I got up with the sunrise at the lake. It had been a couple days since I cleaned my dromedary so I emptied the water and refilled at the spigot. Up early we set off to hire a car. With the plan to head up the quad cities and stay there overnight. Unfortunately for us all the small cars were hired out so we had to take a bigger car altering our plans. ... girls who act like they're afraid of clowns VERY LOUDLY and a man in a store who couldn't wrap his head around John not being embarrassed about being a clown. Hah. The folks at the library were really nice and the gas at Casey's was the cheapest we've seen in awhile ($3.49/gal).
We took off around 11:30am for Carthage, IL and drove through cornfields for an hour...I definitely prefer that to the outskirts of Chicago!
