Tom went for his last bike ride, this time around Cass Lake (about 30 miles), while I went on my last tax-free clothes shopping trip to the little mall in Bemidji, where I found some great deals. ... their boat. They shouted that they were taking on water, and mom gestured to show 2-3 inches of water had filled the bottom of their boat. We could see the water being pumped out with the bilge pump in the back, and after a few more tense minutes, Dad said it looked like his plug had fallen out. This wasn't good. ... lost them. Within minutes, I had a very nice tug, and could tell this catch was not a pan fish. Tom got the net and landed my first (and probably last) walleye of the year. It was a nice-sized one too (17 inches), and a great way to end our morning.
The weather was beautiful for another afternoon of kayaking (Linda & Deb), biking (Tom), golfing (Mom & Dad), and lazing around the resort (the kids). By early evening, Tom, ...

When we arrived in Walker, Tom loaded the bikes up on the car and we met up with the girls. After a little shopping (we HAD to pick up our Highlander Grogg coffee beans!), we all met at Zona Rosa's Mexican restaurant for supper. Now we're just hanging back at the resort, catching up on travel blogs, reading, and chatting with cousins.
... the Lake. We changed into our biking clothes and left around 7:30 on our 16.5 mile trek. The ride was beautiful, although threatening storm clouds and a little rain made us a bit nervous. Tom also had trouble with an almost flat tire near the end, but thankfully, was able to complete the ride. When I got back to Ruttger's I rode around in circles for a few minutes so that I could push my ride up to 18 miles, and my weekly total to 50. It feels great to be getting back into biking! ...
