    This was where the sat nav was of its last use. It got us to within a few miles of the border, on B roads. Then, not knowing what counted as autobahn and what didn't, we were scarily on our own. For about 20 miles we skirted the border, unable to get in. Then we took a risk, a 400 euro risk, on an A road that we knew, from our map, led into Slovenia.

    ... are avalanche signs everywhere) are so crystal clear. And there's nobody here. Meaning, seemingly nobody lives here. A hundred hotels to every house though the couple of places we did stop were populated by friendly people who seem to be living in, if not a time warp then at least a totally different and laid back culture to the rest of Europe.     ... to show that in front of Ellie! Some sections were actually pretty tricky... Graded 3 out of 5 ... Not bad for first timers!! She was very glad we had gone with a guide and we hadn't tried to attempt it alone. The view at the top was great and we enjoyed a hot chocolate in the cafeteria before walking back down to the Cable Car and zooming back down to the village.     ... everyone else has all they need except me...     ... turning round as he said there was no way his scooter would make it up the hill with two of them on. While we were talking another Car and Caravan came into the rest area with both Caravan Wheels absolutely pouring smoke!! They looked really worried and started making phone calls, I was very glad it hadn't been us. We made it safely down to Innsbruck and then immediately back up again heading for the Brenner Pass and Italy. Back on ...
