... to get our supplies. Since we were staying in a HI hostel, we were cooking to save funds! We explored some sights near us that included the Buckingham fountain and Grant Park. We had to make a u-turn and go back to the supermarket as Colm forgot his beloved crisps so we took the scenic and slightly longer route along Lake Michigan. I am so glad I can sleep almost anywhere! :)
Our first flight left about midnight from Chicago. Flying international sure beats flying U.S. Not long after take off we were given hot towels, turkish delight, menu for meals and snacks, and zipper pouches containing slippers, socks, lip balm, ear plugs, eye mask and toothbrush/paste. :) We felt quite pampered!

... was still time to get a feel for the city. Highlights included the amazing views from the Signature Lounge Bar atop the John Hancock Center; a night of blues at Buddy Guy's Blues Club; and a trip to Wrigley Field, home of the hapless Chicago Cubs, where Sam and I slugged some baseballs at a nearby batting cage (of course I managed to bottom edge one right onto my sore foot...but that won't come as a surprise anyone). But, alongside the aforementioned ...

... of chaos we finally made it through all the airport check points and found the right gate. So here I sit waiting to board the plane that will take me to a new and exciting culture. Questions keep swirling around in my head as to what will I have experienced when I return back to the small town of Marshall and even though I know I don't have the answers I do know one thing. I'll never find out until I cross the gang-plank and board that plane. All I have to do is take the first ...
