there is no way to put into words what a room filled with bones from 40,000 victims of the plague looks like... except think something like the organ from goonies and then you have an idea of what one tiny piece of this place looked like. after an hour train ride through the Czech countryside we arrived in kutna hora. we walked from the train station to the bone church... located in the middle of a modern cemetery is this unassuming building. inside ...

... s Church. This church was similar to St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague, but was lacking the sure brilliance. I think St. Vitus Cathedral has spoiled me! Never-the-less the architecture of St. Barbara's is still pretty cool and worth seeing. The rest of the town was just like an old village - full of history and really cool architecture. It was a really cool place to visit.

... out to be the highlight of the day was seeing the St Barbara Cathedral! This was so awsome for me to see the Cathedral of the Patron Saint that both my mother and daughter were named after. I only wish I could have gotten better pictures of it, but as you can see they are working on it. I did pick up some postcards of it and will send them off to my mother and daughter. ... and eating at a picturesque cafe...blandest most ordinary meal we've had the whole trip...even the waiter whispered to Andrew in Czech when he ordered the soup 'Not recommended...it's packet soup') There are plenty of nicer cafes once you go exploring some of the cobbled lanes. Anyway, the town was host to a silver rush back in the (you guessed it) 14th century, and so became a regional centre. It is filled with gorgeous churches, silver museums and even an alchemy ...

Up at 8 for some food Id got from Tesco then a run to find a launderette as I was desperate for clean clothes. Went to tourist info as receptionist was no good and they found me a place straight away. Ran there but that was an industrial laundry and they only did a 2 day service. The lady told me about another one and this bloke kindly gave me a lift, dropped me off but didn't know of it, so didn't find so continued ...

... happened that same day as we were trying to find the town of Kutna Hora. We thought that taking the secondary, small "highway" would be more scenic than the freeway. It was indeed a lovely drive, but it turned out that the road was completely closed down once we got within about 10 kms from our destination with no prior warning. ... Marianske Lazne and you can admire exact copies of famous buildings from the Czech Republic. Geological Park This park is located in a forest above the city. The park features typical minerals which can be found in the Slavkovsky Les Nature Reserve. This reminds me that there were a lot of small neighborhood stores throughout Marianske Lazne selling minerals in all colors, sizes ...
