... face down to avoid both the guilt trip and shame brought by begging. This was different to Krakow as many beggers carried signs 'money for beer'. Older women pushing carts collecting rubbish and the homeless woken cruely in the morning reminded me of my blessings.

Day 3 - Zvìkovské Podhradi - Pisek 30km We only had a journey of 29km today to Pisek, and as the rain was pouring down, we thought we'd have a leisurely sleep in (til 7am), late breakfast and get into our wet weather gear. The initial impressions of the day were a bit dour, as we started with carrying our bikes up stairs to get to a bike path which turned out to be another forested mountain bike path, with lots of rocks and tree roots to navigate. We also couldn't understand a word of the tour as, all in czech, but were given an English booklet to read so could imagine what was being ...

        The Red Indian...

A travel blog entry by beautiful_life on Jul 20, 2010

I dressed as a red Indian and I had to "fight" with the kids in the forest with cardboard-made swords, under the scorching sun. Do not underestimate the kids, they are BRUTAL! I got a few bruises from the fights and one of them accidentally slashed my wrist. Painful and bloody, it was the first wound that needed to be dressed. I was wearing knee length socks and yet the deadly mosquitoes could pierce through the socks and bite my already-ugly legs!
