... all been very helpful and eager to make your stay enjoyable. Pisek is a really impressive town, and we were lucky that we got in early enough to enjoy the sites. Pisek has charming cafes, lots of beautiful old buildings in the centrum, and especially baroque houses that are very ornate and well maintained. Most of the centre is cobblestones and no cars, giving it that small town, European friendly appeal, just what we like to see. We headed out through ...

We were impressed with Camp Matyas where we stayed near Prague and would recommend it to other travellers - close to the station, clean facilities, good restaurant with cheap, home cooked and good quality food and lots of little extra touches throughout including one free return train journey to Prague. Our short journey to Orlik was uneventful and the only thing of note was the road FROM ...

The main, and really only reason for our visit to Pilsen (or Plzen) was … you guessed it …. for beer!!! Apart from the beer, Pilsen has a nice old town, and is the European Capital of Culture for 2015. It is also on the Lonely Planet’s top 10 places to visit in Europe for 2014, so it has to
    have something going for it!!!

There is a nice main square (Republic Square) which has the obligatory big old church, ...

... for public (especially Czech and German tourists). The other buildings were torn down so they decided to keep only the observation tower. Today the observation tower has three floors, each of them offering something interesting , for example exhibition reminding some of the equipment used in the guarded frontier zone in the communist era or consequences of the hurricane Kyrril that swept over the mountains Sumava in 2007. ...
