Rediscovering the land of smiles in Rayong
... control 60 kids but once again they really behaved and did what I asked of them. Whilst I had kids literally under my feet my better half had 1.5hours off! I am not moaning though. I really took to teaching and would definitely do it as a job if we lived in Asia. I am not sure if I could do it back home though. The kids here are so much more behaved and their parents really appreciate the job you do.

... to sell on every stall is beef jerky or some sort of dried tongue which disgusts me and I don't understand why anyone would want that in this weather! Phidel comments that it smells like poo.
We get to Rayong but theres no straight bus to Trat so we get a small minibus from a persistant sales guy and realise we got a good deal. The rest of the journey is enjoyable, we have lots of leg space and air conditioning and in no time we arrive in Trat, thank god.

Ko Samet
... smooth, arriving in Samet we jumped on the back of a pick up taxi, with 10 or so others, yet being a farang (tourist), we seemed to foot the bill for everyone ( as well as paying 200B each to get on the island - thais pay 20b).
We were driven over 4wd only dirt tracks to reach Tubtim resort, about 4 beaches down from the pier, and arrived around 4pm.
First impressions were good, fabulous and well priced bungalows, white powder sand ...
The Ring of Fire
How have I lived in Thailand 9 months and only just now spent a weekend on Koh Samed? It's the closest island to me in terms of the big tourist spots, and it’s gorgeous. I guess I just figured it was too close by to waste a three-day weekend on it, and I never got around to going on a regular weekend. What a mistake. Samed is my new favorite spot in Thailand.

... you hammered yet keep you awake all night long. The bar was just a sea of mats and cushions laid out on the beach with a small army of staff darting between the little tables keeping up a constant supply of drinks, food and shisha pipes for the enormous crowd, while laying on a 12 man fireshow that wouldn't be out of place in the Cirque de Soleil.
