It took a bit longer to get to the beach, but we had enough protection with us to keep us from getting sunburnt. ... of shells is because Sanibel is a barrier island which is part of a large plateau that extends out into the Gulf of Mexico for miles. This plateau acts like a shelf for seashells to gather. ... to walk around and show everyone our hats. Then everyone was given a ballot and asked to vote for their favorite hats. I was so surprised when I came in 3rd. Dave McKay had a pool for the race.
