What a night!!! We were so relived to be out of Death Valley and actually feel air that was under 100 degrees.
Darren was up early taking pictures of the sunrise and then decided to just keep driving towards our next stop, Sequoia Tree National Park. It was about 3.5 hours drive to go and he let me sleep in the back...how sweet.

... a curve and BANG! Its there. The perfect storm. The perfect combination of light and dark, shadow and contrast, color and depth. And wouldn't you know it..... There is a pull off! You can pull safely to the side of the road and capture all the wonder in the lens of your camera. Can you imagine being on the work crews that built these cliff hanging roads? Was there an Ansel Adams type of fellow on staff that decided where the work crews ...
... then a bit further down the path saw a wild cat (not a lion but about twice the size of a domestic cat) walk across the path ahead of us. My heart was really thumping by then. We walked out onto a clearing and saw the lake and then realised we had walked up the wrong side of the lake to get the view that you see in all the pictures. Having come so far we decided to try and walk around the lake to get to the other side rather than just turn ...
... be 2,200 years old and its largest branch is almost 7 feet in diameter. Absolutely amazing, we felt so small and insignificant among these giants of the forest. We climbed almost 400 concrete steps, straight upward to reach the top of Moro Rock and arrived at the top to an awe inspiring view- BREATHTAKING!!!! WOW! Both Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks are a must for your travel list!
