Just a bit of a 'summary' about this Florida 'layover' as I await departure day...I came a bit early to avoid any possible winter weather that might make cabin leaving difficult. This south eastern / Ft. Lauderdale area it is not as I remember it from years past / or else I never hit a school holiday period??  I have totally under estimated the number of people camping. On Saturdays Jeremy takes Mikey and Coco to an indoor play centre so we decided to go along. Dad came with us and Mum and Katie went to the markets.

Flagler was a Standard Oil Magnate who is responsible for the Seven Mile Bridge running down the Keys and, if you remember my comment about the fellas who cut through the mangroves in the Everglades while building the railway and abandoned the job when they realized they were off course or something like that... that was a Flagler project too. He is famous in them thar parts.

... I were off to Florida for a weekend of fun, sun and family. They arrived in Stuart and immediately raided the Total Wine for the weekend's libations. I departed with my dad while the Harrisons enjoyed smoked kingfish and mussels at the Mulligan's in Downtown Stuart. After they settled in, they made their way to my parent's for wine and general revelry. After an hour and a few glasses of wine, the anxiety I had the past few weeks over their ...

... put in one place for too long? I already miss the rocking of the boat.

Semester At Sea has been such an indescribably amazing journey. I know I will be back on The Explorer, if not for another voyage (maybe to South America next time?), then one of the shorter enrichment voyages they offer. They also host weeklong reunion cruises, too! I think that everyone should have an experience like Semester At Sea. It is such a unique program…there’s ...
