We stopped at Wawa to see the famous Wawa Goose. Actually now there are two of them. As we got closer to Sault Ste. Marie ...

All I can say is we are grateful we do not live outside Toronto and have to drive those expressways ! We found our way without trouble to Niagara and got to our KOA by 4pm ! It is a huge one with 3 pools and huge kid area ! We decided to get the shuttle right away from the campground to the falls as it runs till 2am ! We were blown away by what we saw. To see that massive amount of water tumble over those shelves of rock and the aqua ice blue color of ...
Sudbury, Ontario, Canada pringlefarmToday we explored Sudbury noticing how green it has gotten, such a huge change from when I arrived here in 1967 after having been hired to teach here over the phone. It was nothing but barren rocks everywhere! Now with the greening projects that have been going on for a number of years the chaange has been dramatic. We spent the day visiting members of Brian's family.
Sudbury, Ontario, Canada rosemarys... cemetery to find the stone we discovered that Brian's glasses were missing so we tamped it a second time and fortunately found them. We arrived in Sudbury about 4:30, had supper then visited Brian's parent's graves. Then we went to his sister Bridget's house and visited for the evening with Bridget, Mrs. Peplinski, Steven, Jenn, and Steph. The rain put us to sleep.
Sudbury, Ontario, Canada rosemarysSo I am at university. No, seriously, while I am staying in Sudbury I am staying at Laurentian University residence. It was the cheapest deal for $35 a night. There unfortunately is not a hostel in this city so I had to chose this. It's not bad though. Comfortable, clean, simple and usually with an internet cable in every room. The only down side is that the university sits about an hour outside of town ...
Sudbury, Ontario, Canada mgraveli... oh Wisconsin glacial I believe. The basins give rise to the thousands of lakes that occupy the area, seen from the train hour after hour! The area is so green, its amazing, never seen so many trees. This is the Boreal forest comprising predominately birch, spruce and pine, the trees occupying the higher hillocks and lower basins bordering the lakes. As is usual with coniferous woodland, there is a great deal of surface water and bogs, often acidic due ...
Sudbury, Ontario, Canada whernside... all, pleasant conversation.
Off to Dynamic Earth (the new name for the Big Nickel) ... seriously, who would be motivated by curiousity with this new name? Hmmmph! ... it's like calling the Sky Dome, the Rogers Centre ... it just doesn't fit! So, off to the Big Nickel. What is it? Sudbury is most famous for being a Nickel mining town. The biggest (pun intended) symbol of the wealth that Sudbury has ...
It's a warm day for the Northern part of Ontario. I think I'll stay home and plan out my "dream" vacation, touring across Canada. There is so much to learn about this awesome country. I love Canada and am proud to be Canadian, perhaps that's the reason for this desire to discover all of what Canada offers.
