Two Months in Cape Town Bru

A travel blog entry by bobbysabel

Having never visited South Africa before I was unsure of what quite to expect. At first I was a little disappointed with just how western and cosmopolitan the city turned out to be, however with time I began to appreciate how easy it is to get everything done here. Cape Town offers winter sun and a rewarding exchange rate. I arrived in Cape Town …

After returning from the Kruger Park region, we were intending to take the Garden Route to see the sights and experience what there is to experience all along the way. High on my list was seeing the cheetahs in Cango Park then seeing the gray crowned crane in the Birds of Eden park all the way in Plettenberg Bay. Alas, we were feeling …

Captivating Cape Town

What a pretty town, beautiful coastline and stunning mountains and cliffs on the beach. We tried to do more but laying on the beach was hard to avoid.

What we did

1. Table Mountain
2. Constantia Wineries - we did Groot Constantia (beautiful grounds and wine making info), Klein Constantia (don't bother) and Buitenverwachting ( …

... I'm told is the one stuffing their pockets.
For locals that I have spoken to, I can tell the past is the past and they have well and truly moved on. Every person has a different story and perspective to tell. I have not lived in this country or experienced these difficulties, therefore it's not my right to judge or make assumptions. All I can do is write what I observe and hope for a happier future from a dark past. I will never categorise. Those children I met don't ...

It was actually very inspirational – not many people I know will do something that they don’t necessarily feel comfortable doing, nor want to do, but she had a very open mind and she was willing to give it a try. I know for myself, I was worried for her because there was no way we were going to be able to go down the mountain and there was no ...

I'd been out for dinner with some friends, which turned into a few drinks out on the town. We ended up drinking back at the hotel bar until the early hours with a couple of girls we'd found. Having driven there initially, I was in no state to drive home so I drunkenly "negotiated" a room for the night. A very reasonable £80 had me in a nicely decorated double room. I noticed in the morning that it was a little on the compact side, however it served the purpose. Breakfast was good and included in the price.
