    ... buffet breakfast out on the terrace we took the complimentary hotel shuttle bus to Casino square. Wonderful to be in glorious hot sun after cold rainy London. There are some lovely old buildings in this square and it is a pleasant walk around the Marina. However it was very busy as two large ships were in port, a P&O and a Cunard- damn cruisers! There is clearly lots of wealth with lots of Ferrari and other top of the range cars ...

    Today we seen views of Nice an Villefrance from over Cap Ferrat just magnificent blue water as far you can see. Then on through villages of Beaulieu and Eze medieval villages built on hill tops from limestone just unbelievable. Then on to Monte Carlo and seen palace and changing of guards then on to Monaco where we drove round race track seen casino and harbour. ...

    With our Eurail pass we decided to do a few day trips from Nice. We started with Monte Carlo, Monaco in the morning. It is strange to think that within 30 minutes you are standing in a new country. Monte Carlo is a beautiful city, built up on a cliff but with a lovely view of an incredibly blue ocean.
