... classical composer Beethoven. On our arrival in Bonn we decided to take a walking tour of the sights of the city. Our hotel was on the banks of the Rhine so we had a lovely view of the river and city skyline. ... it was finished in 1880. It is a Gothic cathedral made of sandstone. One of the three organs is called the swallow's nest organ as it hangs from the nave. The gorgeous murals with gilt are from the 14th century and were entertainment for the people of that era who mostly could not read. ... the town and got the train back to Cologne in time for a nice meal in a town square complete with a band playing nearby. All the cafes seem to be full each evening and there is lots of atmosphere wherever you go.
