Had a late start to the day today and for a change instead of going down the hill we went up the mountain. Up to the site of an active volcano. It started to rain half way up so had to hire umbrellas so we could walk over to the edge. A couple of quick photos and we were off for lunch. The rain became quite heavy and ...

A traditional Indonesian breakfast was had by all this morning, only a phone call away according to Toni. I had Bubur Ayam (chicken Rice porridge) and the others had Nasi Goreng, very tasty. Then home for a birthday tea with Alicia's sister and family and a mountain of luscious ...

At least to us, because no one has any idea we were going to do that. We arrived back at the house to finish packing. I knew it was going to be an emotional time, as Halef was going to be gone again for at least another year. And, frankly, I love his niece and nephews. ...

Rainy Season

... bugs. Thankfully no cockroaches! But we've gotten A LOT of mosquitoes, flies and these dragonfly-type things that are gross and annoying. We've had to resort to closing our windows full time. The problem is, that these houses are third-world constructions and not Holmes on Holmes Approved. There are no air ducts.....at all. They have these window slots at the top of the walls where the ceiling meets, and they have opposite facing glass so that something can't just fly into the house, ...
