Bangkok Baby

Well we arrived safe and sound in Bangkok after a mini stop off in London. Unfortunately for us our bags never made the journey and we had to set off without them and not knowing how long we would be in the same clothes! Thank god for the spare change of clothes we both brought in our carry on!! How could this start to our trip get possibly wors...

The sun was officially back out today. We got up early and called a few hotels to see if we could use their pool just for the day. We found a few, one that didn't cost anything, but requested you purchase something at the poolside restaurant. So we headed down there on the BTS to the Nana station. This area seems pretty seedy. A lot of cheap hot...

Bangkok - what a shock after HK!!

Well, here I am in the First Class Lounge (another result)in Bangkok at the end of my stay here - "I'm afraid Business Class is fully booked and we have to put you in First Class" - this was what greeted me when I arrived at the check-in desk!! Another great perk is the automatic use of internet facilities in your own private work area - hence m...

Koh Tao to Bangkok
Apr 26, 2004

Koh Tao - Last Day Final day in Koh Tao was a great one from what I remember - sketchy details in my mind if I don't update this often enough and if I've done a lot since then. My last update, I believe, was just before the final dive of the advanced PADI course - a NIGHT dive. It was really great to take the boat out one final time from the har...

More Traveler Reviews of Amari Boulevard Bangkok

Overall nice hotel, Convient location

from sdpch on 2005-11-07
I found my stay at the Amari Oct. 23-26 to be pleasant. I was not sure what to expect after spending weeks reading so many reviews of hotels in the Bangkok area. The hotel lobby was very relaxing with a nice lounge area. We only ate the breakfast buffet at the restaurant which was great with many choices. The rooms were average size and the bathroom had a full tub and shower. Finally, the location was great because the Amari Boulevard is located right on the skytrain line at the "Nana station." I would recommend this hotel to friends.

Nice breakfast

from A TripAdvisor User on 2005-10-23
I stayed at Amari Blvd for 5 days, loved the breakfast there every morning, many different choices. However, the room we stayed in was in the old building, the first night we stayed in a room smelled damp(12th floor), we swtiched the room to the 13th floor the next day, but the room still smelled damp, but it was a lttle better. After a couple of day, we got used to the smell alreay. We couldn't get another room and couldn't switched to the new building, otherwise there is an extra $15 charge per night for move to the new building, so we stayed. Overall it was OK, nice service, polite people.

Amari Boulevard

from FredSmeggins on 2005-07-20
Located in a (at first glance) slightly downmarket street, but is actually very handily situated for Skytrain - there are also lots of taxis / tuk-tuks to get around the city. Sukhumvit is a very noisy road but that can be said about all of Bangkok - maniac driving is de rigeur in this part of the world. Only minor quibble about the hotel was a problem with self-dismantling balcony doors and having to remind reception twice that they needed to be repaired. For a mid-price City hotel this one is hard to beat - rooms are of adequate size, excellent showers in the bathrooms, and their breakfast service is first class.

A safe haven in a very different type of city

from MULLAGHMORE on 2005-07-19
We stayed in the Amari Boulevard while on Honeymoon in March 2005.

This hotel is clean and the rooms are of average size but the view from the hotel is not very desireable - it faces directly into similiar size buildings. The staff are very helpful and polite and were always on hand. We did not eat in the hotel but heard on our last day there that the restuarant serves great food.

This hotel is a clean and fresh place to stay in an otherwise dirty, smelly and over popualted city. Bangkok is a different experience but 2 nights is an ample visit - the four nights we had was just too long. It is very cheap to eat and drink, but very difficult to find a restaurant that serves good food and a bar that is not dominated with prostitutes!!!! It was a great experience to visit city in the Far East but short stays are what I would advise - and do not travel on the Tuk Tuks - the drivers cannot be trusted to take you were you want to go!!!!

Great location and service

from akdrv on 2005-07-10
Amari Boulevard is located very close to Nana SkyTrain station. Rooms are clean, service and security are excellent. I will be going back to Amari in July.

Should have booked the Landmark.

from A TripAdvisor User on 2005-05-09
Very busy location but ideal for the short trip. Sky train is a bonus as the traffic is often at a standstill especially at rush hour. Room was OK single glazing balcony door meant that the street can be a bit noisy in the early hours. Staff were ALL exceedingly polite and friendly. Compared to London it's cheap! cheap! cheap!! Would I book it again? probably not.

Very modern but beware of ordering a massage!!!

from Lollyflashpants on 2005-04-22
My boyfriend and I stayed here last summer on our first visit to Bangkok and we really enjoyed it. The hotel is spotless and is extremely modern. We had a deluxe room at a very reasonable rate and it was fabulous. The shower was huge and the bed was the most comfortable one i've ever slept in. The service was great and the staff were very helpful.

One word of caution though regarding massages. You can get a massage in your room and I ordered one for myself one night - just a normal massage. Well, about 15 minutes later there's a knock on our door and not one, but two Thai girls are standing there in little black dresses. Very odd. They both came in and asked what kind of massage I wanted and I said just a normal back massage. They asked with oil? I said sure, I guess so for a bit more money it was a full body massage with oil. Normal enough I thought but I felt a little odd. You pay upfront and it was as if the two of them came together to suss out our situation to see if maybe we really wanted a bit more than a massage - maybe sexual activity with one or two girls. This is very common in Bangkok but I did not expect to find it in a nice hotel. Again, I cannot say for sure that this was what was happening but it really seemed like it.

So the other girl left and the massage girl came in and asked me to strip and lie on the bed with a towel over me. Then she just stood and watched me. I was a bit embarrased and my boyfriend was totally uncomfortable. Then after I lied down on my stomach the girl straddled me and started the massage. It was just all a bit weird as she was wearing the most inappropriate outfit (a little black dress) for sitting and giving a massage. Also she kept letting her hair graze down across my face and back and sometimes her hands just moved a bit too close to where they shouldn't! It was the most unrelaxing massage ever!!!

My poor boyfriend didn't know what to do or where to go while this was happening. He was afraid if he just sat down in the corner that she would think that we wanted something sexual and that he wanted to watch!!! Mortified! So anyway my boyfriend ended up with a great story to tell all his friends about a Thai girl in a little black dress straddling his girlfriend and giving her a massage! And to top it all off when we went out later that night we were walking down our hallway and we heard loud noises coming from a room near ours and it was an American man having a wild time with two different Thai girls! I swear Bangkok is a crazy city where anything goes!!!

Anyway, that was all very odd but I promise everything else was great! The hotel is worth staying in!

Nice location

from A TripAdvisor User on 2005-03-29
the location of the hotel cannot be beat as it is right next to the skytrain station. the rooms are very nice and clean. service, however, was not up to par with other bangkok hotels as the front desk was lukewarm at best.

A haven in the centre of bustling Suhamvit Bangkok

from A TripAdvisor User on 2005-03-02
We have no hesitation in recommending this excellent hotel

The staff and management attended to our every need with wonderful smiling faces.

It is a haven but immediately you walk out of the front door Bangkok and its unique atmosphere are right there in front of you

A big thank you to all at the Amari

My favourite

Fantastic location, great views, excellent service and facilities, incredible attention to detail, but at the same time one of the most friendly, unpretentious, relaxed places I have ever stayed at
