The hotel and staff were great. It was nice as a starting point to travel up and down the keys. It was not too bad of a drive to get back to Miami for return flight. Definitely recommend.

... We had to fuel at one marina and then dock at another. Moreover, we seemed to have chosen the worst fuel dock ever. It was basically self service although they would help you tie up if you called ahead for help. And to give them credit, they did tie us up. Unfortunately, after they tied us they immediately deserted us and we could not open our door because they had tied the rope over the it. So we had to radio them again and ask for assistance with fueling. They came and handed ...

The area contains several trails through the jungle there. Many are not well developed, which gives you an idea of what it must have been like in the early days. We walked to George's original homesite and then on to the bird center. Here they accept injured birds and ...

... Amish sitting on porch of large double house ; Barb apologized to them for intrrupting their afternoon; not too talkative. Continued driving then thought we might have found site of original settlement -- three farms next to/across from each other. Four buggies at one farm. Then headed east to Freetown, another Amish area. Stopped at Byler woodworking shop. Barb got out ...

... we order the spicy tuna tower and red pepper conch bisque for starters followed by Tahitian chicken and pork osso bucco for mains. The food is utterly, delightfully delicious but so obscenely huge I have to push it away not even half finished.

In the main room 'Patrick and Debra' entertain us with piano jazz. An array of standards by Sinatra, Patsy Cline, Fats Domino, Barbra Streisand, Gershwin, and Judy Garland are given the over-sincere treatment and then with much fanfare ...

Had a great day with Moyra and Dave at the Key Largo Seafood Festival where we actually ate at Alabama Jack's. They had just returned from a ten day exotic cruise to many islands.
