... Thanksgiving dinner. We had palak paneer, dal, garlic naan and lamb biryani. It's no turkey dinner, but it was nice to spend the holiday with some old friends. When I got back to the room it was 1:30 AM on Friday-pefect timing to call the fam in NY and have the phone passed around the table just as they were sitting down to eat.
On Friday I had a few free hours in the morning before my interviews started. John, Steph and I met for breakfast ...
... type vehicle that we may have 4-5 people in, typically carries 14-15 people. Buses have seats on the roof, tractors have people sitting on the fenders, trucks have people in the back of the truck, people are hanging out windows. There are way too many people here. People seem so insignificant which is probably one reason for the honking, to have a bit of a voice. The honking is also useful to not get hit since a 3-lane road will have 4 to 6 lanes of traffic.

... especially for younger people. At about 3:30 we had to leave for the train station. We went to the New Delhi station first but it was the wrong one so then we went to the Old Delhi station. We had trouble parking as well and we started thinking I might miss the train. It prob would have been ok because he said he would take me to his house for some real Indian food from his mother. However, I made it!! He sat with me until the train left ...
Delhi, India meganmargureite... stylish coffee shop), and sat in the soothing aircon sipping on some ludicrously named ice coffee treat, while I scratched my chin and read a magazine article about the Indian economy. Frightfully highbrow you understand. I winked at a few fellow coffee shop customers. 'Oh, you're reading about the Indian economy as well? And drinking some tasty iced beverage? Oh how maaaahvelous we are, simply sooopa!'. Coffee shop patrons the world over think they're pretty ...
New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, India lnb203... It seems that the factory is incredible efficient - they can make a lot of garments in a short space of time when big orders are received and hopefully as more money comes in they will be able to improve the condition of the building although I think this bothered me rather more than any of them as all these guys live in the slums so the conditions here are much better than they have at home. Our next port of call was the bag factory in the village called Khichripur - this meant ...
Delhi, India emzeeb3... city Delhi shopping mall experience: I felt like I was in a different country altogether and this could well have been somewhere in the US, until I tried to buy something. There were 6 men in the shop, none of them doing much other than sitting there idly. Then we asked for shoes and after telling us they didn't' have that size, they proceeded to show us different colours/ models (but right size) as well as trying to convince my friend that the smaller ...

One is a large sundial, others track the passage and phases of the moon, but the most amazing feature was that each one had staircases or tunnels or bridges that allowed for climbing and exploration. We chatted with children, met their parents, posed for pictures, and sat in some shade to enjoy the sun setting over our new home.
New Delhi, India indiadee... I waited for the night to fall so that I could hide in the dark and I would plan my stops in a hidden place along the road...But even there people would pop out of the bushes or climb down a tree while I pee! Argh! Didn't smoke that day as it would take too long and allow enough time for the surrounding villages to come and send me a visit...I hadn't eaten the whole day and at around 7 pm, I saw a banana stall and thought that it was ...
