It's not every day you get to see a world wonder. Most have been mothballed by the time the tourists get to see them (see Pyramids and the Great Wall). Others, like the Hoover Dam, tend to be a little underwhelming (especially with the droughts). The Panama Canal is a living working modern wonder. It connects 160 countries and 16% of American trade passes through it (5% of world trade). Passing through the canal means a ...
... it out, they accept it and put it away. The girl in the cashier next to it where we had moved to just so happened to need $10 for the change to my $20 and they all start giggling to each other as they give the suspect note to us. Not sure what the fuss is over as I'm sure someone will take it off us. We get back to the hostel, dump all our stuff and start the painful packing process. With not much in the way of restaurants around, we had dinner at the hotel (surprisingly delicious fish tacos and pasta) before calling it a night. Tomorrow we head to Bocas del ...
... had lunch at the fish market. 2 Colombian guys were at the table and bought me three beers, which was completely unexpected. We had fun and then I walked on to the metro, then Albrook bus station, and got the bus to the Panama Canal. Incidentally, Cabs cost $27 from the hostel to there.
I met a German couple on the bus and we purposely avoided paying the $15 admission, which is $10 up on last years price. We saw a huge frieght, were told not to take photos (in ...
