... we got in line for our visa. The official for our line had the most chilling presence I think I have ever felt. His eyes were bloodshot and cold as he said in a disdainful monotone "Where is your fee?" I asked how much and quickly retrieved a $50 bill, which he took and then handed back stating "We don't take old currency." Luckily I had new currency. He seemed empty of humanity, and emanated something dark ...

... him before. I was struck with his conflicting feelings towards women, his striking woodcut works, and his mixture of wry humor with sensitive artwork. Check him out!

We left Van Gogh and merrily biked through Vondelpark. Expansive, beautiful, and with the fountains and misty air felt like we were transported to another time. Except for the barking dogs and kids smoking pot, of course.

After that crazy day that completely turned our plans upside down, Andrew and I decided to stay positive and start planning a new adventure. Knowing now our 6-12 month European stay probably just isn't possible, our new goal is to visit as many places as possible before our budget tells us to go home. So we booked our bus to the Netherlands and after some delicious belgian ...
