Jasper was very kind and gave us a lovely sleep in til half 9, good boy! It was overcast but not raining. We headed to see the little mermaid which was only nearby, unfortunately it did start to rain again but we got to see the statue by the sea amongst all the other tourists and kayakers( what a great way to see Copenhagen, but a bit miserable when its wet). After a quick call to our Dad's to wish them father's day in Oz, we headed to the Oresund Bridge.
We ...
The weekend has been so relaxing! It's my first time to go to a Spa-hotel and I thought it was liberating to be able to go around wearing robes ;) massage, gym, sauna+freezing cold ocean+hot tub, swimming pool and the food was delish... I really have no complains at all!
6th July - This was the first time I'd seen Andrews, Kiwi, Walker and Miles in ages. It was fab to see them again. So, flying out was a bit dull but we wet out for a meal that night to a pizza place that had ran out of pizza so I just had a prawn salad that was yummy. We stayed in a hostel that night and went swimming in the lake as soon as we'd had time to put on our swimming stuff 7th July - This was the first day of canoeing. It was ...
Fagen Lakes near Gothenburg, Sweden capricorn101... and generally relaxed as hell. Fantastic. We'll stay here until Saturday when we take an overnight train to Berlin. Of course some of you will immediately recognise that Halmstad is the home town of everyone's favourite Swedish pop band, Roxette. It's surrounded by beautiful forests and coastline, all of which we've been chauffured, chauffeured, driven around to see. None of this, of course, makes for an interesting blog entry.
Halmstad, Sweden dconliskSTOCKHOLM The Ferry from Stockholm to Tallinn was fun. Leaving Malmo was no small task. We do not use maps, we sort of head in the right direction and then stop and ask for directions. (I know how this goes against the grain if you are a guy) but it seems to work. Eventually we found the highway and it was a very beautiful drive. Seems that Sweden is flat in the southern part, then has trees and ...
STOCKHOLM, Sweden jrgoOnly a few days and only one city, but here was me finding my feet at the beginning of a journey which didnt start as planned! Would definitely be happy to return to Sweden, although the prices are high the people are georgeous! Malmo is a lovely city on the coast of Sweden that is also just across from Denmark. Photos soon, promise
Malmo, Sweden julesw83... who felt the same. But I eventually found a great, cheap place just outside of Goteborg, Sweden which I recommend: STF Göteborg-Mölndal/Torrekulla Turiststation The first thing I noticed about Sweden, was the truth in a stereotype: Blonde people. Especially the women. Blonde, blue eyed etc. I was constantly astonished with how many there were! Goteborg is a mid-sized city and is pretty nice, right on the water...but is not a must-see. There are no ...
Goteborg, Sweden ryancanadianWe arrived in Lund the lovely little university town of Lund, in the south of Sweden as part of the Australian contingent to the wedding of Australian born Neil and Swedish Viktoria. Lund is small and very pretty, famous for its university, and for its cathedral. We were welcomed with a traditional Swedish ´crayfish party´. This involves eating small crayfish boiled with dill and lemon, drinking Schnapps and singing Viking ...
Lund, Sweden aussierachWow, it is a scorcher here in Malmö, Sweden....but who can complain when you have the Baltic Sea merely steps from your tent! And we have already taken advantage of that. Although it was no Lake Huron (felt more like Georgian Bay in early May) it was refreshing and a relief after the heat of the past week. Better than rain, so again no complaints. Matt is currently using the pay toilets which ...
Malmö, Sweden kaylzWednesday Whilst waiting in Budapest airport for our flight to Copenhagen we overheard someone talking about some painted monasteries in Romania (that we wanted to vist), so we turned to ask some questions and were faced with a japanese looking man foaming at the mouth and getting really excited. My immediate thought was, Rabid! Rabid, Run for your life!!!! But we wanted to find out a bit more so we braved the spray and I resisted the temptation to offer him a tissue. He claimed to ...
