... the band on stage. Gilles the bus driver took me and Darren M. for a walk through the lower and 10x more lively lower floor. He pointed out the regulars who 'own' their tables and are there every night. I had suckling pig roast for dinner. I don't know what Jeff had. I'll ask him tomorrow. My week began with something that is necessary but not a light topic. Lori took me to Dachau, the first concentration camp in Germany. Most of the buildings that the Jewish prisoners had to sleep in were bombed but two were still standing. We were able to walk around and see the bunks were they slept, crammed besides one another. There were different memorials that
were built on the site from various religions remembering those who suffered. The most difficult building to go through ...
... were walking around asking/looking for spare seats! It was like a scene from mean girls - can we sit with you? No sorry table is full! It was hilarious! Once we got in and got over the excitement of being in a tent with a table, and seeing the bar maids selling giant pretzels, sausages, giant gingerbread hearts, novelty hats, the list goes on and on - we decided to play cards to pass the time - by the time 12 came around everyone was hanging out for ...
... temptation was to stay in the shower...no water restrictions here! By the time we had our breakfast and got back to our room to map out the day, the rain was gone and I was ready to start our walk. I won't say I was 100%, but neither was the weather with cloudy skies.
We walked around the market which was packed with people. As promised, all the people doing their shopping before the stores were closed tomorrow and the fans for the soccer ...
... The New Town Hall was the first to make us gasp in awe as it dominates Marienplatz. Built from 1867 until 1908, this building survived the bombs. 40 statues decorate the building and it is famous for it's glockenspiel which "jousts" daily. The ornate structure, immense size and towers are just too much to describe and I sincerely hope I can post some photos of this even if it means waiting till I get home. We took a lift ...
