Day 17 in the Smith campervan

... with lots of tourists. The large river cruises dock here on the River Rhein. We went on a petit road train around the sights and then the next day an open top canal cruise. Apparently they have amazing Christmas markets or Christkindelsmarik held every year since 1570. We found one Christmas shop that is open all year long. Amazing are the restorative powers of a big clean hotel room, a cold shower and good wifi. ... we headed down and took a walk around town. There are a few nice guard towers, but most were covered in scaffolding. Freiburg has another neat feature; there are Bächle, or small canals with running water, along the streets.

We headed back to our car and left Freiburg for another Black Forest stop, Triberg. They have waterfalls here but we had less cash than we thought we did, and didn't have enough to pay the entry fee! There was a huge festival in town ...
