Im on a boat

... the day. Couldnt have spent a couple dollars better! The whole weekend was very peaceful and exhilarating leaving me with nothing but my thoughts and pure nature. <br>On Saturday my normal dive partner Joe signed up for a bouyancy clinic to try to help control his breathing underwater allowing for more dive time each dive. I on the other hand just went ahead and took the boat dive out to dives called Pete's Reef and Nathans Dent. Petes Reef was ...

My "Big Fish story"

... water. This one really looked like something out of a movie and topped the other beaches I have seen so far. I snorkeled for about an hour and saw more fish in one spot than Ive EVER seen diving. I guess not a lot of people make it out there so the sealife was just untouched. I saw a huge clam and a large mollusk shell attached to the reef. I litterally hammered at the mollusk with a rock to open it for maybe 20-30 minutes. Sorry Meg... no pearl. :( Maybe next time ...

Theres always enough time!

... br> After all this we snagged a delicious mahi mahi breakfast at a local joint and headed up to Big Navy, the island's navy base, to go out for a hike. Today was the first day all week that the weather was real nice after the typhoon leaving! Can't let that go to waste in rainy season! We started out by going to Orote Point is the westernmost point in the U.S. and also a very important landmark in both the overtaking of Guam in WWII ...

The land down under

... something.. Just holding out my hand drew fish closer and feeding them with mcdonalds french fries was just another spectacle. its like feeding seagulls haha (not a good idea near beach lifeguards btw.. please take note..) and whichever little guy wants it the most is gonna snag it&gt; Another part of Scuba that was fascinating was being able to just "hover" at any depth underwater. It takes really no effort at all, you just have to set your bcd ( an airbag thing that you wear to ...

Jumping out of a perfectly good plane

... 97.000 times, it goes wrong, says the article. If I calculate this: 1 on 3 sky dive instructors would die, if they work intensely for 20 years. Hmmmmmmm. I meet Yuri, my Russian skydive instructor, who gears me up. The instructors make you even more excited then you already are! We walk to a real plane with real seats: much more sophisticated then Namibia. This time I jump from 8000 ft (last time 10.000 ft). At 8000, the ...

R & R in Guam

... approximately 4,000 years ago. Today, Guam's economy is mainly supported by tourism (primarily from Japan) and U.S. military bases. Capital: Hagåtña Official languages: English and Chamorro Total area: 541.3 km² Population: 173,456 We are staying in Tamuning, walking distance from the beach so they say. http://www.guamhotel.com/ We expect cheap and cheerful and get cheap and depressing. Sure, it IS a studio. But there is one dirty mug ...

The Chamorran meal fit for a king

... coloured water in keeping with the island theme. A TV showing island news and goings-on shared half the screen with sporadic ads from God, who wanted us all to know he or she is "listening". The breakfast specials were tempting (a day is always made better with macadamia pancakes), but I opted for the Fiesta Plate, a sampler of Chamorro's best. When it arrived, before even tasting it, I knew I had made the right decision. After one mouthful, I ...

got jerk?

... much of in Asia so I was very happy to get a jerk fix here! My flight to Pohnpei was late that evening. All throughout the day I was noticing that my arm with the dog bite was getting red and swollen, but nothing too alarming I thought until I got on the plane. I went to lean on the armrest with my bad arm and was shocked at how bad that hurt. The backside of my ...

From Guam to Godzilla

... bed. The Japanese crew staff is very friendly and the food is very healthy, mainly fish and vegetables. Some of the food is so new to me.. I do not know actually what I am eating in many cases but I am an adventurer and like to try new things and this is my opportunity to taste Japanese food. The ship is owned by the Japanese government. Godzilla is an area in the ocean floor of more than 100 miles ...

Guam

... Chinese which I couldn't understand anything but it wasn't so bad because I've read some about those places before. I got to the hotel about 11am and I went right to bed. I think I haven't slept for over 24 hours. I did a lot of walking while I was in Guam. I remember reading somewhere that people would think you're a lunatic if you walk there. Maybe I am but who cares :) It was quite fun walking around. A friend that I talked to on the Internet picked ...
