I have stayed at this hotel on four occasions now and it never lets me down. It's location could not be better on the quiet Linzergasse a short walk from the aldstadt. The people that work there are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are a standard size for the city. The only difficult thing is the rooms are made for two so, in our case, we had to get two rooms for our family of four but that weakness is overcome by the quality, the location and the people. I love this hotel and will return soon!

It was a lovely drive through the French countryside as the sun rose. We get to our flight without an issue although Beth was concerned that she'd be stopped again at …

Although when you try and speak to a fellow camper you feel like they're having a go at you (Dutch / German/ Austrian is such a fierce language) the pace and atmosphere of this place is very slow. Interestingly they contrast this to what they perceive to be the heroic perspective still taken by countries like NZ and Australia. We have had a great couple of days here and tomorrow we train to Prague. Before then it is dine out night. I'm thinking goulash and dumplings followed by apple strudel. Love ...

Salzburg literally means "salt fortress" because of a castle on the river that used to collect tariffs from barges moving salt to the rest of Europe. Salt mining was the main industry here many years ago. Last summer we had planned a salt mine tour but never made it here. Damn Romanian!
