We stayed here with another couple for 6 days and found the hotel and staff to be most satisfactory. The only downside is that the city decided to do a major overhaul of the tram-works about a block away over a 2 km section on Spencer Street over the Easter/ANZAC long weekend meaning lots of noise and tram and road traffic disruption.

Had a great day today, went to the Arts and craft market in Melbourne where lots of local crafts people show and sell their wares. Some lovely work and very tempting!!
We then stumbled upon a cultural festival in Federation Square it was great fun. Lots of music and dance and many food stalls from every country you can think of. There were a...

We officially made it to Australia! We grabbed a shuttle that took us right to the hostel door so that was awesome. The building is actually an old Salvation Army training college, whatever that means so its just this huge brick building with towers and cool architecture so it's sweet. We set out for the grocery store to stock up for the week! W...

Hier ...

Arrived in Melbourne after a night of being so uncomfortable you couldn't sleep, therefore we were both very tired and irritable. Checked into the hostel with our bags, our room wouldn’t be ready until 1400. Ate breakfast then decided to walk around the city which was a good move as it kept us awake! We visited the Gaol whi...

The first couple of days home after being overseas are usually the worst for a mixture of reasons. This time, my antics over the 24 hours leading up to my departure probably didn't help. Australia greeted me with a little too crisp air, a horrible cold and a missed transfer equating to a 6 hour lay over in Sydney. 'Not happy Jan' is about as Aus...
