... 66 miles, but that was because it was sending us almost to Alamogordo and then up a winding road. Last time we took that road, Bob kept his eyes closed and his hat pulled down. The way we went cut 30 miles off the route and there were no sheer drop offs. Not as many beautiful vistas, but since it was so cloudy and foggy in places, we probably could not have seen anything anyway.

Cloudcroft is at 8650 ft. It is a small village ...

... have veal and it was good.

After dinner we came back "home" and now Bob is sleeping on the couch while COPS plays on the TV and I am finishing up this blog.

Did not take any pictures today since we didn't go anywhere. Tomorrow the plan is to drive UP to Cloudcroft, hopefully it won't rain tomorrow. It's supposed to rain tonight, but so far nothing.

Hope everyone has a good day ...

Ever heard of the LINCOLN COUNTY WARS? Well that is where we went today. Back in the 1800s there existed a village know as La Placita. This was the largest of several Hispanic villages situated in the heart of Mescalero Apache country. In 1855 Fort Stanton (which we have already visited and I wrote about) was built nearby (about 13 miles). Not sure when it became Lincoln, but the town today is as it was in the 1880s. Lincoln lost it's county seat status in 1910 when Carrizozo ...

It was another beautiful morning. Mostly clear skies and about low 60's when I got up, which was earlier than lately. Bob decided he wanted to go to Walmart early this morning, so off we went. It was 8am when we got there and unlike at home, bet there weren't 40 people in the store. We got a couple of things, but then tonight I remembered a couple of things I forgot, so guess we'll be going back in the next day or two. This ...
