    Dear Family & Friends,

We have just returned from over a month away cruising the wild mountainous Carian and Lycian coasts of Turkey. The Carians and Lycians were indigenous people speaking an Indo-European language, living here before the Greeks arrived about 1000 BC. Until a coastal road was built access by land was very difficult, and most access by sea; in Byzantine times it became a pirate haunt. The Lycians were famous for their ...

After a chill night and yet another beautiful meal we enjoy yet more sleep... It's holidays after all! Finally late at night Tom, Amy and gorgeous Asher arrived and get settled. We sit up with some wine until late, it's still so warm. We wake late the following morning and head out for lunch. The food is amazing as always. We ordered iced coffee, beer and ouzo all at once (when ...

Late at night Bridget and I finally arrive in Rhodes. An island which sits closer to Turkey than the mainland of Greece. It is a beautiful 32 degrees with a light breeze. People are everywhere even though it's midnight. All businesses are open and people fill the streets on the warm evenings. The taxi pulls up at the entrance of the old town, a cobblestone mini city inclosed by a medieval castle wall. We grab our bags and make our way through the ...

A day on the road at Rhodes !!! Alan organized a fleet of taxis to transport us round the main points of interest in Rhodes - which are few. Basically a look at where the Collusus once stood, a trip down to Lindos with its Acropolis, via a ceramic place, and back up to the main city via Faliraki. It was pleasant and relaxing, the taxis were quite expensive (200€ each for 4 hours), our driver was nice but after Lindos on the return trip there wasn't much commentary. Liam was ...

... the bus drivers. We parked in the back corner next to a park / kiddies' playground and went for a walk. Although Dalyan is clearly a tourist base it had a very positive and relaxed feel. The streets were clean and attractively designed.

We shared a meze platter and I had my first fresh pomegranate juice. Good stuff – healthy too. When we got back to the van at about 10pm the carpark was indeed quiet – all the buses ...
