... Sunday Reese and I ventured up to a new Hutte that is about 1000 vertical meters above our house. I think the opportunity to hike from the house is also truly unique where on average you can be in high alpine (above 1500 m) within 1 hour of hard uphill hiking. We shared a coke and sprite on the deck of the Hutte with the sun setting in the background. It was very Austrian...I also like the fact that she can climb as quickly as me and so the exploration potential is increasing every week!

... sweet tooth, of course we all kept him company. On our return to Oberstaufen we detoured to the Wieskirche (white church) which is a UNESCO world heritage site. It was built in 1730 ten years after a farmer witnessed a statue oh Christ weeping. Millions of people each year make a pilgrimage to this beautiful and highly decorated Catholic Church. The dome ceiling is painted in pastel tones with murals of Christ's resurrection, the walls are white but with plenty of gilded ...

... fast ride up the gondola took us high up the mountain where we could explore from. I wasn't really prepared for the altitude or hiking in the leather boots, jeans and the light cardigan I had down in the village, but I should know by now to always be prepared for a short "walk". The views, I seriously will never tire of the the amazing views. It has been great sharing this with Michael's parents - I know they are pretty amazed with the Austrian countryside.
