    Today was somewhat low-key. We had a chance to tour Sportgymnasium, Madison's host school. All the kids who attend are athletes. They come here because the curriculum and schedules are tailored around their training. Many of the students here have gone on to become top national and even Olympic athletes.     The rest of the afternoon was spent touring downtown Magdeburg and free time to explore on our own. The boys played a pick-up game of basketball while we sat and had cappuccino while people watching.

    Tomorrow is Weimar and Buchenwald.

    ... the trains were on time. Minimizing the number of changes and extending the transfer times meant that we can't get a super-saver fare. However it is better to save wear and tear on bikes, bodies and nerves rather than money.
