    Day 4- School Tour & Magdeburg

    ... and field and swimming. The American boys even had a chance to learn at bit of handball.

    The rest of the afternoon was spent touring downtown Magdeburg and free time to explore on our own. The boys played a pick-up game of basketball while we sat and had cappuccino while people watching.

    Tomorrow is Weimar and Buchenwald.

The movie, which my Uncle helped support, and participated in was based on a 50 year reunion of the war's end by some of the survivors meeting back at the school. The movie has a number of interviews of people, then children in the school as well as old photos of the children then and the Headmaster and teachers, who were ultimately responsible for saving many of their lives.     ... the trains were on time. Minimizing the number of changes and extending the transfer times meant that we can't get a super-saver fare. However it is better to save wear and tear on bikes, bodies and nerves rather than money.
