Southern Spain

So today is our last day and we are both ready to be done with it! We arrived not until noon in Alicante and we had reserved an excursion to see two towns near Alicante. One was Jalon and is famous for Muscatel wine and the other was Aleta famous for nothing except that the tour guide lives there. So this day turned out to be a double holiday in Spain and ...

Flipflop hike

... getting ourselves into, we embarked on the hike with just our "flippy-floppies". The start of the hike was nothing more than a walk in the park with a nice stone path that led us into a manmade tunnel. The tunnel was pretty neat, complete with ropes to help guide us in the dark and to avoid bailing on the slick rock. Once out of the tunnel, the path changed ...

Caminamos en Alicante

These pictures are from me trying to take a photo of myself writing with my ancient feather pen from the Alicante market and from walking around Alicante on a tour of the the two cathedrals, San Nicolas y Santa Barbara.
The pictures later are from our visit to two little pueblos just outside of Alicante; Guadalest and Altea. In the little town of Guadalest is a beautiful castle ...

Para Empezar

... I found some really cool things and the best part is that aside from meeting these terrible gringos, I am loving loving loving Alicante!~! I am more relaxed here and I'm more peaceful. Which is something I'm sure anyone who knows me for more than a day is sure to find cra cra! I am actually happy and not angry all the time and I feel at home and safe...smile...
I even got a really beautiful mother of pearl bracelet and ...

Day 39- Who needs uni if you have a british nutter

So Alex had to go back to the consulate in the morning and being true friends me and Olly decided to join him. In the Brittish consulate you basically have about 15 people at any time who have had their passports robbed. During our short stay we spoke to a few fellow British people around us. A particularily funny convosation started with an old british man who was keen to share his words of wisdom, unfortunately, he was not even slightly wise. He started the ...

Day 38 - Dancing like motherbitches!

So, day 2 in Alacant. Had to start off by finding the British consulate so Alex can get a new passport. After a pretty standard day we bought some cheap Sangria and food which we cooked in the courtyard of the hostel. Thats right 7 euros a night and it has an f-in courtyard. We cooked food, drank and ate with a few of the German dudes whilst the rest of the guys where lost in the city. After ...

Its the Barcalona/Peniscola Blues" . . . . and so it went on.

After a truly genius and uplifting night the Belgians and Germans who were supposed to be leaving in the morning decided to stay another day. Then we all slept in our own amazingly comfortable beds. Awesome.

Day 36 - Tony Robbinson

... usual and fell asleep in a wierd location (motorway traffic Island) as usual. Then, as usual, whilst going to the toilet a big animal started rustling around in a bush next to me. I nonchalently threw a massive rock in there to freak it out.

Then we soundly fell asleep to the sound of heavy traffic a few meters away.

Day 35 - Sleeping in an abandoned building

We spent most of the day relaxing on the beach recovering from the epic cycle. I thought i would be clever and insulate a cold bottle of coke by burying it. Well it does keep the coke a little colder but that is not really too important if you can´t find it. Me and Alex then spent an hour washing our clothes playing shirt ...

The Self Preservation Society

... then a manic ride in the
dark to Las Americas. If you´ve seen the end of ´The Italian Job´´, it
was like that, only faster. We´ve
also done some walks above Las Americas, where there are some
surprising routes even if the guidebook nearly got thrown into the sea
once or twice. We´ve had some rain in Spain and some serious wind, but
were back on the beach today. Weather permitting tomorrow, we´ll try to
get up early and get the bus up to the National Park for ...
