A long, long straight, and road works for 180kms from Vallenar to La Serena, with 80km speed restrictions and multiple one-way sections. Some one was looking after us as we met most of these at a go time. Once again we are in a container port and have to take a shuttle to the port gates. We have a tour here with patogonia shorex with 2 other couples. This time I had arranged for us all to meet before going ashore to avoid the fiasco of Pisco. We met on time but were delayed by Jim and the bathroom lol. We met our guide and driver. Much smaller vehicle than I had envisioned. If I had known I would not ...

... walk, with heavy bags, in the hot sun, made more difficult by some roads not havin road names/signs. But, using my expert navigational skills (and not letting Chris get involved with directions!) we didn't get lost once and found our hostel. When we arrive the lady who greeted us starts speaking spanish. Badly we reply and say hello and etc, and she continues to speak in spanish. ...
