It starts.

Departed Dublin around 07:30, first stop Italy for the wedding. Arrived in Malcesine for lunch. Checked into hotel Alpino, a great little spot, right in the centre of the town, chilled for a while then caught up with friends who were already settled in.
Weather was a bit of a mixed bag, but we still had enough sunshine to make the most of our time. We got the ferry across Lake Garda to visit Limone for the amazing invisible market and rented out some paddle boats which was good fun.

Verona Take Two

... it, that's a spectacular and different story. Everyday, every hour, every minute I am so grateful to be doing what I am doing. Even when it's just watching a movie while the wash is going, or killing time for 2 hours because the Italians don't eat until 8pm. I love it.

All of that said, for my daily readers, I do apologize for not posting when I could. You are welcome to come visit me in Verona and tell me what a terrible person I am ...

My Fair Verona

... some vitamin C will kick it out. And I have some succa di arancia e annanas. Not bananas as you might think, but pineapple. Go figure.

I'm going into the city to find internet and to eat at a little place I noticed the other day. It's called La Cantina De L'Arena. Which I just realized should actually be Cantina Dell'Arena, right Signora Tumminia? Anyway, it called to me last time I was there but was ...

I LOVE VERONA!

So much so, that it is about to take the title of 'longest stay' while in Italy. I will spend 5 total nights here. Woohoo! I'm about to leave my fabulous hotel that I love to go to an apartment in the city, where I can live like a local with my own kitchen and everything. I am psyched! The only drawback is that it doesn't have internet. So I will do my best to bring my laptop with me and post updates while I'm in town picking up produce. EEEE! :)

Wuh oh, Siena and Lucca

Verona may just give you a run for your money.

I'm in a glorious hotel, drinking German beer -- courtesy Olga at the front desk. And I am right in the very heart of Valpolicella country.

I've decided that in Paris and Rome I was touristing (though I recognize I didn't see nearly enough in either) but Verona is going to be relaxing time. Which I also recognize is ridiculous since I go on a cruise in less than a week. But whatever, it's my trip, I get to decide what I'm doing. :)

It is the east, and Juliet is the sun

... 8217; ballet class was in session.

We had a nice lunch of pizza at a restaurant on the square. A girl brought us frizzante water and we just nodded, smiled, poured, and began to drink. Our waiter approached the table and chuckled... “this is not yours” and picked up our glasses and put them on the people’s table sitting in front of ...

Recovering in Verona

(Whitney)
We found a lovely place to stay in Verona. It was our own apartment with a kitchen and tv and living room area! We found it on a last-minute booking site and it was the same price as a hostel which was awesome! We really just chilled our for a few days in Verona. We had plans to go see Mantua but we were feeling too lazy so we just looked around Verona- a lovely town with a great main square and a first ...

... the towns and the mountains and fields. We have decidedly chosen to take the non toll roads. The drive to Verona would have been 3 hours on the highway but we took the 6 hour drive through the most gorgeous scenery I have ever experienced! 3 hours of mountain driving passed by in a second! Luckily Chris was driving because I don't know how I would have felt driving along some of those cliffs but he took his time so we were safe as can be! I ...

Lago di Garda

... in. We were able to get some great views of the lake and local towns from the top of the castle. We walked around the town, visited some of the shops and had lunch at a small restaurant. David and I shared an appetizer of meats and cheeses from the region and ordered our main courses of gnocchi (for David) and pizza (for me). We then got back in the car to head to the east side of Lago Di Garda to head over to the town of Garda. The views of Lago Di Garda ...

Milan and Verona

... down the countless amount of stairs to the town of Verona itself, which was good because it meant that we didn’t have to drive in and find a parking spot for Fred. After walking through the main area and looking for Casa di Giulietta (Juliet’s House) awhile, we finally found it! It was packed with tourists but a special place to see-the balcony where Shakespeare apparently set the scene was in full view from the courtyard. The entire area around it ...
