      Day Thirty Six - Rome

A travel blog entry by guidos-blog on Jan 02, 2015

... world, yep you guessed it the Vatican. What we didn't realise is that Tina and I nearly walked there yesterday without even realising it. So €150 later we are signed up for a tour of some of the museums and the Sistine Chapel. We had an American tour guide and she appeared to know her ****. Seven years in a catholic primary school didn't mean that I listened a great deal. The joint is amazing and a ******* money machine. I mentioned to Tina on the way out the irony of how ...

We slept in packed up and headed for the train to the airport. We managed to catch all the correct trains and arrived at the airport with time to enjoy lunch and buy a massive Milka bar before boarding our flight (What it was my last time to have a Milka of course I was going to go big). We boarded the flight and enjoyed a toasty ride to Cairo. Of course our flight was delayed leaving which ...

A travel blog entry by gregvanbeek on Sep 27, 2014

Today we headed to the Vatican to see what all the fuss is about. We ended up going on a guided tour with a lady that we could hardly understand and earpieces that kept cutting out on us. There was some really nice art in the Vatican that dated back hundreds of years in some cases. It was so bloody busy though it was hard to take it all in. We ended the tour by entering the Sistine Chappell, this is where the roof has been painted by michaelangelo and ...

... restaurant with suited waiters that we wouldn't normally choose. We chose it because Ang had a dire need to use the toilet. It's the most expensive toilet stop we've made. The meal was nice but cost 70 euro, plus we normally give a tip of up to 5 euro depending on the service and cost of the meal. Craig told our waiter that he looks like Denzel Washington and he said he gets told that a lot but isn't as rich as Denzel. A Swedish family sat next to us and we chatted with them a ...

... materials and there is much stone and many metal pieces mussing. We then went to the forum with a very good narration. We really needed our hats and water though as it was really hot. John drank out of a tap that was connected to the aqueduct system. The water is supposed to be very pure. We'll see! We saw heaps and learnt more about the vestal virgins, how Julius Caesar was killed, how the Roman stock exchange worked, etc etc. John finally made it up the steps ...
