    Roman Forum, Trastevere, Colosseum

A travel blog entry by slynne on Jul 19, 2015

Day with Lucy in Rome Woke up at my hotel Breakfast on terrace, yum! Met Lucy at Colosseum metro stop I was a bit late cos I had to wait over 12 minutes for a train... Lol Went to the Colosseum but then realised we needed to pick up tickets and reserve a time at the Roman Forum ticket office. Sigh. So we went and got our tix and booked for 5pm colosseum (instead of 2:30, to avoid the heat) Then we explored the Roman Forum although we didn't really know what we were ...

We are one week into this vacation already and it hardly seems like a day or two has passed. I really enjoyed Rome and we spent such a lovely few days there - now its shipboard relaxation. Lots to do including some time in the casino, bingo and a glass blowing demonstration to name a few. The view from our balcony is fabulous and we enjoy fresh coffee and lite snacks delivered by our Butler each morning.

    Tomorrow - Athens!

Today we were to visit the Coliseum. An earlier start, and even though the lines were very long, admission to the monument did not take too much time. We climbed four flights of very steep stairs for a fantastic view of the arena.Later on we found out there was a lift! It used to ...

Our last day in Rome, our bags are packed and the hotel owner has kindly offered to let us leave our suitcases at hotel while we head off to explore the Vatican. Catching the bus to the Vatican, it was crammed full of people, I almost fainted from the pressure of everyone pushing up against me. We arrive at the Vatican .... people everywhere. We had to go through a security screen area before we can enter ...
