Ausserbinn, Switzerland lesterenanne... atmosphere. And the libraries I frequent have tons of really interesting books on the topics I am studying, which is always a plus. And, it's pretty cool to walk around sporting a UN library badge. I always feel really important just walking through UN security like I have an important international mission that I need to research. Tuesday was also spent at the library, but I had lunch with a friend<br>from school who is also studying in ...
Interlaken, Swiss Alps, Switzerland chelseyineurope... just took it all in. I made it up in good spirits to the town I was supposed to reach by cable car and enjoyed the little town there. Afterward I headed back the way I came but decided to take a different path down the mountain. As I was going down, I met some early 20´s surfer looking guys from Canada who were biking too. I picked a hiking trail and went at it. Again, I made the wrong choice(Big Surprise). This thing was incredibly ...
Interlaken, Swiss Alps, Switzerland travel_lover87... to information so we could look into getting our tickets for the rest of our time in Switzerland. We also asked where we could find a fondue restaurant, because Swiss cheese fondue is supposed to be fantastic. We walked around the train station for a few minutes and Kathryne bought a pair of shoes and a few sweaters that were on sale, and then went to find the recommended restaurant. When we got there, we decided to order cheese, some meat, and of course ...
Interlaken, Swiss Alps, Switzerland penns... feel as ease. Those guys fit the bill, making jokes about beginners, crash landings, and the like as we ascended 1,300 feet to our launch site. Basically it was a green pasture-like steep hill that, when waddling as fast as you can with a parachute and tandem harness complete with an instructor guy strapped to your back, allows you to lift off over the tree tops below. It was a slightly awkward task, but that’s ...
Interlaken, Swiss Alps, Switzerland mollyandmikeukSuch an amazing weekend!!! Interlaken is the adventure capital of Europe, i think at least. I was going to go paragliding but it fell threw twice because of the wind. So, no crazy sports for me, but the hiking was just as nice!! We spent three days here ...
Interlaken, Swiss Alps, Switzerland hemmelre... so much more! We had an authentic Swiss dinner filled with Swiss yodelers, a horn, dancing, and a crazy cow! Along with the fondu, the dinner was amazing. There were times when sitting at dinner that I would have to take a step back and take a deep breath, and just look at the amazing people and memories. I can just tell this trip isnt even going to compare to anything else I have even done.
Lucerne, Switzerland bwollow... was cold.....about -5'C. We decided to stay in a hostel in the old city centre, as hotels are quite expensive. This newer one was very clean and cost about 55 Euro ($80) per night for bunk beds and a shared bathroom. Unfortunately, the cheapest rooms (ours,) happened to be above a local bar in which the patrons partied until 3 or 4 am in the morning every night except Sunday! Bern is another UNESCO World Heritage Site, and ...
Bern, Switzerland noalarmclocks... the predicament we are in. Most of us are dealing pretty well with jet lag, even the virgin flyer of our group, Amanda, seems to be doing well. Today was spent exploring the city of Berne. Our hotel is located almost on top of the Berne bear pits which contain 5 very spoiled Pyrenean brown bears. One particular bear enjoys laying on his back with his mouth open, constantly catching pieces of bread from passerby. The legend behind the bear pits is that the founder ...
Berne, Switzerland spitfyre... I have plenty of new stories to tell and allow no lull to enter the conversation. At one point, Jenna is one of two or three people telling a story to part of the group. I'm sitting on the opposite side of the table listening attentively. Mid-sentence, she happens to look in my direction, our eyes meet, and she flies off into her stutter. I try to hide my smile. Had I not been interested, I would have found it pathetic. Instead, I was eating it up. I thought it ...
