... most of it and headed to the old quarter for dinner. There was a show on as we arrived. Seemed like medieval play (you know those people who dress up in medieval garb and play with swords etc), but in German, and with fire dancers. The fire dancers were performing for the king for context... Anyway, we have seen better fire dancers in Bali, and so headed though the crowd to a restaurant. Luckily, Tara reserved tickets ahead of time, so we had a fast pass and skipped the massive line for Neuschwanstein Castle (see pic of castle). This castle was the model for Cinderella's castle at Disney World and it looked like the perfect medieval castle where knights of old kept watch. But a Bavarian king built it mostly for looks. He started building it around the time ...

... us to over 2,300m above sea level and a short, hard trek took us to the summit. The views one way were stunning but unfortunately cloud impeded our views the other way towards Innsbruck. It was a lot cooler at that altitude and the air thinner. Having conquered the mountain we headed back down towards Innsbruck and visited the Alpen Zoo which included many animals native to the Austrian Alps. We had heaps of fun seeing animals that we'd never seen before like ...
