    Rocking in Slovenia

... by naked geriatrics who really shouldn't be.

Yesterday morning, our first day here, we are awake at 6am and Mick sets out to forage for breakfast. He returns with the gloomy news that neither of the nearby restaurant or shop will be open before 11am. This is a catastrophe.

We contemplate our depleted Lidl supplies. A packet of paprika chipsticks, a banana and two seriously jaded ...

    Alpine camping

We all slowly fell in love with Slovenia, camping in the pine trees, swimming in the lake and chilling amongst the mountains. The campsite was full of Dutch teenagers making the most of the activities on offer on the raging river running past the campsite. A great couple of nights enjoying the surroundings, even with some traditional Slovenian music thrown in as we ate dinner on the last ...

This took us to Klagenfurt where we parked and wandered. The town was nice enough and we found our Austrian mascot, but a combination of tired bodies and grumpy Austrians meant we decided ...

Near Lake Bled is another gorgeous lake and the largest in Slovenia. Lake Bohinj is nestled right in the middle of the Julian Alps, a chain of mountains that stretches through Slovenia, Italy, and Austria. We took a short and very scenic bus ride to Bohinj and got on a cable car up to the top of the highest mountain in the vicinity, Mount Vogel. At the top of Vogel, we took a ton of pictures of the stunning mountains ...

    Just Like a Fairytale

Before arriving in Slovenia, the only place we knew we wanted to visit for sure was Lake Bled. Seeing pictures and reading about other travellers' experiences led us to this decision. So after just a short bus ride from Ljubljana, we arrived in Bled, a town that describes itself as being like a fairytale, and it truly is. After checking into the hostel, which is really a man's house that he has turned into a small hostel of four dorm rooms, Tom the owner, gave us ...
