MAGICAL, COLOGN, KNOWN FOR ITS SCENTS

... They were there for the funeral of the man who owned the major newspaper in Cologne and so the church was cordoned off. We could not get into the church.

so, we did what we had to, eat in a super elegant sweet bakery where we enjoyed dessert style cakes that were flooded with strawberries, cherries, etc., cream frosting, ......you get the picture.


Unknown to me, COLOGNE IS FAMOUS FOR COLOGNE, PERFUME AND AFTERSHAVE.

... though as the weather has stopped us going into town. Our hotel the Mecure is lovely, Great place to finish with. Arrived at 3 and had couple of hours for r and r. ... on a bed of mash potatoes and apple purée. We were guided through the older part of town and made it to the river. We walked and walked and ended up at the gondola that crosses over the river and you come out at this very nice, very big park. There are also a famous thermal spa centre there.
