... with a French children's rights NGO called Terre des Hommes, one with the Director of the International Peace Bureau, and one that was with a friend and her friend who have started an NGO for street children in Uganda and have done quite a bit of hands on research of Ugandan schools. This week I have three more, one from a child labor specialist at the ILO, one with a graduate professor of children's rights and education, and one ...
Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland chelseyineurope... other five weeks earlier in Normandy. Usually the times between visits are much longer, so this was a real treat.

About 1:00 we sang some hymns together and I gave a Bible Study/sermon about why the Bible contains prophecies and key threads running through them. Then we continued talking over a "snack:" a flute of French champagne, bread and grisons meat (very thinly sliced beef, lightly salted, spiced and air dried - a Swiss specialty), goat cheese ...
Trélex, Vaud, Switzerland joelmeeker... usually call it Lac Léman, a name that dates from the Roman Empire), was covered in clouds as was Geneva itself. Beyond the lake the snow-covered Alps were starkly visible against a bright blue sky.

We flew the long approach from north to south over the lake, descending into the clouds as we did so, it was rather gloomy on the ground as we touched down. At the gate, an immigration agent checked our passports even before we entered the airport proper. Then they were checked ...
Trélex, Vaud, Switzerland joelmeeker... desk where the receptionist spoke a little English and handed me a registration that, thankfully, was in English. It was very brief and mainly focused upon payment. No health info. was asked. I returned it to her and she informed me that my wait would be around 1 hr. I then proceeded to sit in a chair that afforded me the greatest amount of personal space available, as I didn't want to catch anything from the other ...
Lausanne, Vaud, Switzerland trockieUninteresting day, finally escaped Mulhouse thought I would have to stay there forever ha ha. Got the train to Basel again then a coffee I needed the toilet so went off to find it taking only a small amount of swiss francs with me as we did not have many as we had not been in Switzerland. I only had 150 and the toilet was 2 so I spoke to the woman and she would not let ...
Ferney-Voltaire, Rhône-Alpes, France traceybelle... out and
fortunately since it was Saturday, traffic was light, and I took some
pictures while driving (although I don't recommend doing that, I
couldn't help myself). I arrived in Annecy and found the hotel
relatively easily. I had to park about 2 blocks from the hotel as
all spaces were full, I checked in and rented a parking spot for the
next three days. The parking spot was underneath a building about a
block away from the hotel and I was ...
Annecy, Rhône-Alpes, France nedk... up with Diane's mom Carol and brother Geoff! So it basically was Jon and I intruding on some Bell and Ring quality time, its was great, they treated us like we were their kids too =). We then took a water taxi by the famous Jet D'eau, went down by the "beach" and played some beer bocce in a park. We were invited to join ...
Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland sofenjonWe sadly left Chamonix and vowed to return there in the winter, and drove to Annecy. Annecy was kind of a repeat of Prague, beautiful old city, on the water, with canals... we were kind of sick of that scene by then. They are applying to have the 2018 Olympics there, with the ski events at Mont Blanc. It would be a nice venue for sure.
Annecy, Rhône-Alpes, France sofenjon... cook and whips up gourmet delights at a drop of a hat. So I have been eating well. Tony, always keen to join me for happy hour kept the wine coming, Julie-Anne and I share a fondness for bubbles, so it should come as no surprise that there were a couple of bottles of French stuff in the fridge when I arrived. I have been speaking a littel bit of French, but it is very rusty. Tom, je ...
