Our week in Innsbruck has come to an end and boy have we had a fantastic time here. We arrived Monday afternoon and flew over the snow-capped mountains to land in the centre of Innsbruck. Looking up at the alps when you're standing on the tar mac will never get old. It's just amazing.

We are staying in Old Town and have the royal gardens right behind us. Everything is within walking distance, ...

This evening we were booked into our hotel's restaurant for a glorious 5 course traditional Austrian Christmas feast. We began with fresh bread, a salmon entrée, soup, a dumpling interval, a roast beef meal and a gorgeous dessert. ...

... and I paid €31 for hire of economy boots, skis and poles. It does work out quite expensive, but it's certainly well worth it, just make sure you get there early as it does get very busy!

If you stay in Innsbruck it's certainly a good idea to rent a car as it gives you much more freedom. Innsbruck is extremely close to the Italian and German borders, so there's the opportunity to go to places like Munich with ease. It is also a great idea to drive into ...
