... so no pics will do it justice (I took video though). So instead of a snow pic, I have attached a special photo I took today at the zoo.
Then after that excitement I got the funicular up to the fortress and my battery died after 3 photos so they are not very good but it was worth it to get a video of the Pumas.
Now am hoping for some sun tomorrow which is my last day in Salzburg. I wanna see those magnificent mountains.
... and lock. The doorways and doors have repeatedly impressed me, every where I have been since arriving in Europe : solid wood, with highly decorative locks for what I imagine to be huge, heavy, fairytale-style keys. They just don't make 'em like that any more.
I'm happy to report that Austria's beer halls and breweries compare well to those in Bavaria :) I typed some of this in hall 3 at the Augustiner Braustubl, run since 1621, ...
... Ok, that's not true.
Although no snow, I'm almost as excited about the prospect of seeing some sun tomorrow, as I have not seen one bit of sun since I left Sydney. The last tiny patch of blue sky I saw poking through clouds was in London, but haven't seen the orb since I left home. I'm doing the touristy places tomorrow so hopefully I will have some amazing views ahead of me.
... However, the cold, misty, grey weather really added to the eerie atmosphere.
We were told that this area of about 7 sq km was all part of the NS (National Socialist) party's terrain, including Hitler's Berghoff (where he actually lived). What's crazy though is that the Allies literally bombed everything here and all that's left ...
