We have just come back from a lovely trip up to Lake Konigssee, and a boat trip down the lake to St Bartholoma. The lake is nestled between the mountains, and is 602m above sea level with an average depth of 150m. It is the cleanest lake in Germany, with the water being pure enough to be classified ...

Fist place i go to this morning is the tourist info office to ask them if the gorge is open today. I am told it is open, so i will take a ...

... which was only 200m away but the bottom half of my pants got drenched on the way. The bus timetable wasn't looking good either - 45 minutes to the next bus. Well, at least the bus stop was sheltered so it protected me from the wind and the rain. I was thankful to be in a country where all the bus stops were covered, seated and had timetables and route maps.

I took off my rain poncho and zipped up my jackets to stay warm as I waited for the ...

Yesterday the rain stopped, and the flow of the river receded here in Salzburg (but the floods over Central Europe are continuing, with many cities and towns under water - Prague in the Czech Republic, Passau in Germany, plus many towns in Austria are under water). We walked up the steep walkways to the Fortress that towers over Salzburg. It was built in many stages, over many hundreds of years. The walls and arches ...
