... to the public was Hellbrunn Palace built by Prince Archbishop Marcus Sittikus in the early 17th century. Note the archbishop is now a prince! He obviously had a wicked sense of humour as he had all these trick fountains constructed just using water pressure. The city of Salzburg is in a class of its own. At the foot of the alps, with a beautiful river running through it, there is such sophistication and beauty. We enjoyed our new hotel after a little panic that our reserved hotel had been given away twenty minutes earlier because I didn't understand that we were to be there by 6:00. It all worked out super. ... it wasn't. Then back in the car headed for the alps. We stopped in Berchtesgarden to look around. We stopped for coffee and ice cream. Pat and Stefani will return tomorrow to go the the 'Eagles Nest' and the salt mines.
