... We are not fans of cities and had our fair share of them last year, but at least I can say I have seen Salzburg now. Preferring scenery, we yesterday did the dedicated cycle path along the valley from the campsite - 14 miles there and back - and returned just before the rain started mid-afternoon and I dont think it has stopped since! Anyway, we have extended our stay by one day to get packed away - come rain, come shine - before moving on to Germany tomorrow ...

... finally reached the other in-operation chairlift, and finally found somewhere we could have lunch. It was more of a proper alpine restaurant rather than a quaint hut, but we were just happy to have some food. I had spinach ravioli, and Jess had a platter of various sliced meats, cheeses and bread. The walk back to the chairlift we'd come up on was only about a 20 minute return along the main path, but across it were two thin sticks of plastic - one from each side ...

... for a little bit. At the top of the detour was the tollway, which was thankfully manned, so 10 Euros in cash later we were underway - all before we could even see the camper vans that were behind us. Just after the tollway the road descends into an enormously long tunnel, and when we popped out the other side we were on the other side of the alps. We pulled into Kitzbuhel about 4.30pm, and while we were tired and a little sore, the trip was surprisingly comfortable. After the 2 ...

Where Eagles Dare

... Once I exited there, I realized my GoPro was dead and I did not want to miss out on the good views today! I had to walk back to the hostel to charge my camera. I went to go find the bus to Berchtesgaden and boy I am glad I left early! It was a nightmare trying to find the bus stop and it doesn't help the train station is under construction as well. I had to go to the information center twice to ask for directions because I was clueless. Luckily, ...
