At the end of the day though, Bavaria was absorbed into the german empire against Ludwig's will, and he was eventually (probably) assassinated, but at least he made a badass castle that we can all go and tour today. ... Hauptbahnhof (munich central station). Went to Sixt, rented a car. I paid a hefty amount (166 euros) but I was able to get a white 2014 BMW 220d Coupe. Far and away the fastest and nicest vehicle I've ever driven in my entire life.
I was surprised at how easy it is to rent a car in a foreign country. You show your driver's license and your passport, then sign a form and you get the keys. I have absolutely no idea what the rules of the road are ...
Amazing! King Ludwig II was crazy but he has an amazing castle that was made for him. The weather was not the best but the castle was impressive non the less. Went inside but no pictures of course. For it's massive size the castle is not finished! King Ludwig died (possibly murdered) before it was finished so they stopped production. Beautiful view that I will alway ...
... pretty interesting and more modern than I expected. King Ludwig II lived in a fantasy and the interior of the castle reflected it. The tour guide was pretty interesting as well and it seemed like he had learned English from count Dracula while living in Ireland. The castle is one of the top tourist attractions in Germany and it also has a bit of romance. Perfect Valentines day.
