... usually like this and we should come back Tuesday or Wednesday. He had hired a bike to that poor soul trying to descend and thought he would cancel the booking but it was his only chance to climb the legendary Alpe D'Huez so down he went, I hope he made it back up.
I didn't like the thought of descending at a standstill so decided to bail and we will go back either Tuesday or Wednesday morning as I have to climb this beast before we leave.

... wonderful villages up near the top that mainly service the ski traffic in winter and summer hikers. Two km from the summit of Col du Mollard is one such village, Albiez-Montrond. It can been seen in the pic from the summit view and where I filled my bidons.

The descents were frightening and bloody cold, especially from the top of Col de Beau Plan with visibility at about five metres above 1000m. It was a bit of a shock when a deer darted out in front of me. I had my full winter gear on and it was barely enough.
We are off for dinner soon in St Michel then tomorrow two TDF climbs are on the agenda.
... and if the weather permits I will add the Montee La Toussure at 1705m.
Right outside our doorstep is the road to the Col Du Telgraphe and the Galibier which tops out at a frightening 2645m. That's looking like my Sunday sparrows ride.
We visited the ski village of Valloire today just above (on the road) but below the top of the Telegraphe in elevation. I could see part of the Galibier from there. Its an intimidating looking climb.
... come all this way and not make an attempt at Alpe D'Huez. I had put on my arm warmers and rain jacket, which helped somewhat. As I left for the base of the climb, which was mostly a downhill ride of about 25km through the valley, the rain got heavy.
