Well woke up to torrential rain and it looked just like the lake district cold and damp we did try and manage to go out for a little while as we needed to get some laundry sorted and stuff but it was just to wet. We managed to get to use the internet and have a drink of really fit hot chocolate it was just chocolate melted down with lots and lots of whipped cream on the top we did not do much this day really as the weather was a wash out I managed to get ...
Bled, Slovenia traceybelle... 8217;d like to point out that I do mean the footwear!) Not much fun really. But, as happens with most mountains, when we got to the top the view made it pretty worth it, so it was all ok, & we headed back towards the village (only getting slightly lost on the way, we were distracted as we tried to name the countries in the world that only have one vowel). I had a bus back to Ljubljana so I could make my way to Croatia, & I was really sorry to leave. Lake Bled was fantastic, go there! :)
Bled, Slovenia chloeeeee... One day we hired a couple of bikes from our host and cycled to Vintgar Gorge, never mind mountain biking, the gentle rolling hills on the way there were more than enough for Jie's legs and she arrived at the park entrance a sweaty mess with wobbly knees. The gorge itself was again picture-perfect, beautiful green waters cascading through the rocks with a wooden walkway along it's length. The gorge ...
Bled, Slovenia jiewu... has been a place of pilgrimage much longer. The town itself has a couple of pubs and restaurants on one side with very little really. We keep ending up in the same place. On the other side some reasonably large hotels make their presence felt, but I'm sure are nearly empty now. Overall its a fairly sleepy place, especially at the moment, and perfect for quiet walks just kicking through the Autumn leaves all fallen from the surround forests around the waters edge ...
Bled, Slovenia gypsyfeet... he stabbed at it with a fingernail scissor. Eventually he removed the cover and then proceeded to rip out the entire speaker, to the amusement of all of the other passengers. After about an hour we boarded another train and then shortly after that we crossed into Slovenia. At the boarder they only checked our tickets, not our passports. The further we got into Slovenia the more mountainous it became. We arrived in Ljubljana just as the ...
Bled, Slovenia smr25... and bars on both sides of the river between the Dragon and Triple Bridges. The night before I did the same tour by chance when I went out to look for something to eat and drink. I ended up getting lost and then I came to the river and "oh this must be the Triple Bridge, and there's the church" look up and "oh there's the castle on the hill". I got something to eat and had a few drinks and figured this will be easy to do tomorrow.
Ljubljana, Slovenia phileus_fogg... bright sunshine and so warm that i was walking around in just a t-shirt and pants. This is a place that dreams are made of. if you are ever near Slovenia, make sure to make time to get to Bled, you will not regret it. I then headed back to Ljubljana and the hostel and a nice rest before the next day. My legs were a little tired after walking 15km. The next day I woke up just in time to check out and get to ...
Ljubljana, Slovenia beautiful_freakHere I am at the Hostel Celica in Ljubljana. This is a former prison converted into a hostel, and it is the best hostel I have ever seen. It is so nice that local people come here for food and drink. We will stay here two nights. Their Internet access is free so you might hear from me again. Thank you for reading my first ever composed bulk e-mail. Oh, I should mention that Slovenian beer, even though it is macrobrewed, is delicious. The best macrobrew I have ever had by far. Take that Heiny!
Ljubljana, Slovenia sunshinekessler... say the least. Eventually, after traveling a distance of 3 km underground and venturing as deep as 144 meters below the ground, we came back out in daylight, with the green plants visible all around the mouth of the cave. We took a funicular railway back up to the visitor center, and thus ended the tour. It was well worth the effort to get there though. I can only imagine what it must have been like to go spelunking in that cave back in the early days before ...
Ljubljana, Slovenia dig_swashb... and had a lunch stop on top of a cliff looking down at a magnificent crystal clear beach with white stones. We drove onto the peninsula and through the town of Ston which is famous for its muscles and oysters... Wayne wanted to stop and get some but they were shut. Above the town of Ston was a massive mountain with a wall that went around it that looked like the Great Wall of China... Wayne and I were laughing saying that it was to keep out all the rabbits!! Next we got to Orebic ...
Ljubljana, Slovenia gemway
