We arrived in Bariloche at around 3pm and jumped in a taxi to our hostel, Pudu, which turned out to be another excellent Hostel with reggae and hip hop on rotation and fantastic views over the lake from our dorm and the garden. Bariloche town is beautiful but very touristy with a lot of chocolate shops and alpine architecture. Considering this we decided to find a car hire place and get out into the Lakes District. Car found and tent hired for the next day ...

... tour buses. At one stop on the way in on a dirt dusty road, I counted around 12 tour buses parked by a river with lovely sparkling clean water flowing over a rapids, of course there is a cafe and bano there also. Unlike some people’s thoughts Patagonia ...

... and so tried to book a ticket. So it turns out you can’t leave the country without having an entry stamp in your passport, so then the bus company refused to sell me a ticket. Apparently on Monday the immigration office in town would open and i would have to head there and get them to give me an entry stamp so i could leave the country!

I think i am just destined to remain in Argentina forever!

I had timed my travels so i would be staying at the Salta ...

Into Patagonia

We left the cambio guys and the beautiful city of Buenos Aires behind to get a 24 hour bus ride to Bariloche - the main access town to Patagonia if you enter from the north.

Bariloche is a pleasant town, right on the edge of a large windswept lake and just a few kilometres away from the Lakes District (not the one in Cumbria), after which the geographical delights of the Patagonia region draws to a close. It also has some decent skiing in the winter months so ...
