It was yet another fantastic weather day in San Martin de Los Andes. Before leaving we wanted to gas up the car; the gas lines were unreal. We stopped in line at one station and the line was two blocks long. The tanker was just filling the station so we drove on to another station. ... and fill my soul with the beauty of this place every day, I would be a happy girl. The guide mentions to me that they offer multiday kayak expeditions. I love that idea. When I get back to Periko's I find two guys who are interested in such an excursion. They have camping gear and we think if we cant get a guided tour we can rent kayaks and go it alone. In the morning I email the company to ask the price of a 1-2 night tour. Turns out its prohibitive. Crazy ...

... up through a mountain and with snow on the road it could be impossible to pass - we were thankful for this advice and took it on board. Simon was designated driver for the day (we did offer, but he was familiar with driving on the right hand side of the road)! Drove to a cute little town .... ... the bike and walked for a while down a forest path that first led to a hidden lagoon and then to another panoramic view of the lake. The end of the bike ride, or the last stop was perhaps the best. The pictures will explain better than I will.
