Contemporary and Comfortable
I loved this hotel. Reasonable rate and a nice change from the Hilton/Marriotts. Comfortable bed and friendly staff. An upscale feel like the W, but half the rate. I'd stay here again for business or at the Valencia Hotel(another new and modern boutique).
Not that great
The rooms are nice and comfortable. the hotel is next to
the highway so it is noisy. The pool area is OK but
you can hear the noise from the highway so it is not that
relaxing. The service is mediocre and
the person in the bar has no manners. Complimentary
wine is a Joke. You have to ask for it and the bartender girl looks at you as if you would want something for free.
Loved Moorpark Hotel
I must agree with most of the reviews here. I was just there last week, and now I'm not surprised at all why it's the most popular hotel in the San Jose area. For the rate of this hotel, it offers everything you need for a very enjoyable vacation in San Jose.
Pros: Feather pillows and comforter, crispy linens, brand new furniture, Aveda bath products, very clean room and bath, horizontal faux-wood blinds, extra nice front desk people, pool tables...do I need to go on?
Cons: shower pressure, you can hear the door bang next door if you have inconsiderate neighbors.
In a word, I'm not saying it's a 5 star hotel (after all, it's not). But it's definitely more than well represented as a 3 1/2 star hotel. The money you spend here is definitely worth it.
This hotel chain does everything right. A small property with lots of ammenities. The decor is comfortable. The rooms feature extras like robes and down comfoters. The pool area is terrific. The staff was super. Our hope is this company will buy some properties in Southern California !
My husband and I travel to San Jose often to visit our grown kids and their families. Typically we stay at the Hotel Valencia on Santana Row, the hotel was sold out so we decide on the Moorpark and thought the change would be nice.
It was too bad that there was only one person checking people in, we waited for almost half an hour to get registered. Then I asked the nice girl why she was so busy, I had no idea she would tell me everything. Apparently someone had been fired that day and another person did not show up to work. She rolled her eyes and basically told me how terrible the management was there and that nobody wanted to be there including her! As we neared our room I could tell the room would be loud, the hotel is located right off the freeway and all you can hear from the room and the pool is the traffic. It was loud all the time! There is nowhere to go and nothing to do in walking distance from this hotel. From now on if the Hotel Valencia is sold out we will postpone our trip, I never want to experience that again.
Very cool and comfortable
My wife and I stayed at the Moorpark in early July. We had heard lots of positive things about the Joie de Vivre hotel chain, and everything was true. It's a boutique hotel with a touch of comfort, professionalism and class. Lots of great touches, very helpful staff and a beautiful pool. Sure, it's surrounded by an Applebee's and Tony Roma's but don't let the surroundings fool you. In fact, we heard that the performer we had seen at the HP Pavillion was staying at the same hotel. Talk about cool...
We just returned from a wonderful 2 night stay at the Moorpark. We were on the top floor and enjoyed the extra benefits very much. The staff was always very pleasant and helpful. Whenever we needed directions they printed them from Yahoo. We would highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting San Jose.
The Moorpark was great-- they let us check in early, the room was beautiful. Nice decor throughout the entire hotel. We enjoyed the pool loft and the outdoor pool! The restaurant had friendly & helpful staff and good food. Actually, all of the staff were helpful and friendly. All that for such a reasonable rate.
I'm a picky person, and was very pleased! Would love to stay there again.
"I could live there"!
I ALWAYS include the Moorpark in my travel plans when visiting San Jose - for business or personal. The rooms are comfortable, beyond description, from the lush bed coverings to the Aveda bath products. I tell all my co-workers - "I could actually live there"! In all seriousness, a microwave and I'd definitely set up home there for extended stays (e.g. more than one week).
I loved this hotel. It is such a great deal. It is contemporary, functional, and extremely comfortable.

After staying in Singapore for 3 nights I am going north on a bus to Malacca Malaysia. I will spend a couple of days there before going to Kuala Lumpur where I will patiently wait for my Backpack to (hopefully) arrive. Today I went to an inexpensive outdoor Indian cafe for lunch. I sat down at a table next to an Indian man. After our food came I started conversation. He is ...
Since the last blog, we've revisited some of the places that were mostly inaccessible at the start of our trip. First though we bade a sad farewell, for this trip anyway, to Canada.
