... to the station. I sit on the bench and pick away at the ruby red fruit. Pomegranate is similar to sunflower seeds, in that psychologically you are eating, but physically you are consuming so very little.

I arrived in Faro early in the day, located the nearest internet cafe and sent out a flurry of requests to both Couch Surfing and WWOOFing hosts. I wander the streets, hoping to accidentally find the youth ...

Albufeira, Algarve, Portugal sofenjon... to sit with them.

That's all behind us now (including being last through customs in Faro - but we got plenty of travel advice and tips). The hotel we are calling home in teh Algarve over the next 5 days is called Monte do Casal and it is fabulous! Notwithstanding that they upgraded us to a Suite with our own private terrace with views to the ocean. Will upload some photos of the hotel (where no kids are allowed), but before we do that, some welcomed sleep is needed.
Faro, Algarve, Portugal pat_n_mel... was our first choice for somewhere to appreciate said coastline, possibly as we'd been drinking the local brew for the last few weeks and it's noted for its 'end of world feel' (the town not the beer) and inaccessibility (again, the town not...). It was the inaccessibility combined with our lack of time and a gentle reminder that we were on holiday not travelling, that made our mind up for us and we were soon on a high speed tilting train ...
Tavira, Algarve, Portugal warm... discovering a gem of a local restuarant with amazing bbq chicken. 6 euro for dinner!!

The next day to fill in time before departing we looked at the Chapel of Bones, which was built from the bones of the monks from the local cemetary. Over 1200 skulls. Definite goosebumps eh!

Albufeira, Algarve, Portugal dovi... br>

http://www.olhao.web.pt/Parqu eNatural.htm
Faro, Algarve, Portugal pille... He gave the restaurant to his sister because the restaurant got too crowded/popular and he enjoys the pub lifestyle. No wonder I like him. As I am about to leave, I about have a heart attach because I ccan't find my wallet. Holy ****!! On the verge of a break down Antonio finds it. Apparently when I was re-arranging my backpack earlier, I placed my wallet on the chair. Whew!! I pay him a couple of Euros (he gave me a bunch of beers for free) and I walk home.
Faro, Portugal kasia-waw... full bloom. Quaint, black European street lamps (which I have completely fallen in love with) are dotted across the town - coming to life with a soft orange glow when the sun finally sets (at about 9pm). Incredibly pretty. We took a day trip to Lagos (another coastal fishing village on the Algarve) and found that it looked a lot like the Portugal you see in the brochures. It probably helped that we visited this beach town on a sweltering day with a ...
Faro, Portugal claude_and_iain... large salt evaporation ponds, all guarded by a gigantic pile of industrial salt crystals which is fun to climb even though it's only a fraction of its usual size. Just don't fall over unless you want a nasty salt scrape and rash. Further on we sidled up to the golf course (which had me salivating after so long without play) and the Roman salting tanks that ...
